Photos from the flat lands of Springfield...

Where Abe leaped to fame.

Located along The Lincoln Trail is the little humble country home...before repairs! This is a back door view with an upstairs door that had a very big first step. The well was brick lined. The fuse box had fuses. The lawn was three feet high and the basement was full of "broken washing machines. An antique furnace, a leaky flat-roofed garage were a couple extras thrown in. It really didn't feel like home that first summer...no A/C, a few mice and alot of cobwebs.

And, now we take a look three years later... See! Now it's a country home with new wiring, a family room, a deck, a front porch, new water pipes, furnace, water heater. The yard is now two inches high. There are new doors, air conditioning, new carpeting, new bathroom, new kitchen. The back yard is fenced in. The pool is in. The garden is plowed.

Below, we see a typical Heartland harvest. Things do grow big here! In the particular picture, one of our favorite laborers picks a flower for her hair.

Then, there was the time the "nice man" asked if he could take our picture at Washington Park...it was about 1976. The next day we saw our picture in the paper...

We were shocked. The reality was about a 20 foot distance between the car and sledders. And, we were being very careful! But...the picture looks like the kids are within reach of the muffler!

Camping...

Country life....ain't it great!

And look....even my honey can find a golf course in the middle of The Heartland!

Look close and you can see the country joy in her eyes!

Lets go home!

Is The Heartland problem free, dammage free? No, not today. Caution...personal life priorities are under construction!
