The American Dream

The American who can dream will always be with us in the midst of doubters and negative thinkers...he always has and always will be.  And a few of those dreamers who go beyond the average will be remembered....Franklin, Edison, Nightengale, Lincoln, Bell.  But you would not recognize the names of most of the American dreamers, inspite-of-the fact that you benefit from their efforts daily.

The American dream is not primarily about money or personal gain.  It is a drive from within the heart to build a better machine, to achieve a greater goal, to reduce the burden or cure a portion of the human pain.  It may result in wealth or it may not. It is the struggle to reach "the goal"....not the comfort at the top nor the recognition along the way.

Few Americans can see beyond the reality and then take action.  And, many who see a dream won't walk the walk because they are often shamed out of the dream or swayed to ignore it.  America continues to be a "land of the free" and choices continue to be made within the privacy of the mind.

But our great national problems will be solved by one of those dreamers.  Our very need will spawn the dreamers we need now.  From within the fiber of the Heartland and throughout this great nation will rise new dreamers to help us grow and to correct the errors within our society.  But to see these folks, don't watch TV or read the papers....you won't see most of them there.  Most great dreamers were not rewarded for their efforts while they were here.  They just did "what came naturally"....not what was profitable or notable.

America needs dreamers.  It needs common folks who will see what is right and work to achieve it.   It needs inventors who will work until the goal is reached.  It needs problem solvers who can stand-up to the comfortable reality and change it.  It needs lots of examples of "moral fiber" as models for our young folks

Are you a dreamer?  Most of us, in our own way, can dream....we can see what needs to improve. The question is not "if we can dream".....the question is are we willing to act, to follow the dream.  Everything has it's price.

There are few things we can leave behind
more valuable than a dreamer's skills or a fulfilled dream.
