Sir..Yes, sir

Welcome to my ChalleNGe home page.  I live in Central Illinois and work part time for an alternative school program.  I have worked with at least 12 of our former students who have entered  and completed the ChalleNGe program. I was an official mentor to three.

This is my story that is shared with a few other young adults who had left life's game defeated, unmotivated and without hope.  As they advanced in The ChalleNGe Program, they rediscovered self-confidence, pride and a will to live again. Cadets have called me a nagger, a dad, a grandpa, a good friend, and, a last hope.  They know I can be frugal and benevolent.  As they learn to stand alone, they leave.  It's a process of maturing.  It's a process of growth that can not be forced upon us.  It's a maturation that didn't happen the first time.  I am most fortunate to have assisted these cadets as they sought to be successful adults.

Walk with me now as we venture into the world of a cadet-mentor relationship.

1. This mentor's experience and views.
2.  Motivating the cadet with words, pictures and messages from the heart.
3.  A few cadets had things to say.
4.  Motivational writings by others.
5.  Some of my thoughts before The ChalleNGe.
